As the OH-01 Election Heats Up, Chabot’s Grand Jury Investigation Continues

It’s been nearly six months since Congressman Steve Chabot received the unwelcome surprise that a grandy jury was convened to investigate his campaign finance scandal. This continuing investigation into his shady behavior spells trouble for the embattled incumbent who’s diving headlong into his “toughest election yet,” per WVXU.

But as this investigation continues on, here are just a few questions Chabot’s hoping no one asks him:

  • Why did Chabot’s “Campaign Treasurer” not know he was designated Treasurer?
  • What did Steve Chabot’s campaign get for a $57K pay off to his former manager?
  • What specific charges and possible violations are the Grand Jury looking into?
  • How does Chabot answer for attempting to dodge responsibility for his own campaign’s shady dealings, while decrying his 2018 opponent’s finance issues?

DCCC spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer released the following statement:

“From catering to every whim of his corporate donors to his never-ending FEC scandal and Grand Jury investigation, embattled Congressman Steve Chabot sure has his hands full. Luckily for him, he’ll soon be relieved of several of his key responsibilities when Ohioans vote to remove him from office and elect Kate Schroder, someone who will actually focus on the people of Ohio’s 1st Congressional District who’ve been left without real leadership for too long.”
