The DCCC's Women's LEAD program is designed to engage women in the democratic process and build a network of people around the country dedicated to electing more women to the House of Representatives.

When women vote, Democrats win. Engaging more Democratic women in the political process is a winning formula for our Party and the Women LEAD program is an integral component of that strategy.

Women In Congress

Democratic Women in Congress Graph

After the 2008 election saw an historic 56 Democratic women sworn in as members of the House of Representatives, with Speaker Pelosi presiding as the highest ranking woman official in our nation's history, the 2010 election saw the ranks of Democratic women shrink to 48 seats.  In fact, the number of women in Congress dropped for the first time in 30 years.

It will require not only financial support; but also a constant exchange of ideas and strong advocacy.
