Regional Field Director

Position Summary:

The Demcoratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is hiring Regional Field Directors for the 2012 campaign cycle. The Regional Field Directors report to the National Field Director. They are primarily responsible for supporting Congressional Campaign Field Directors. The Regional Field Director assists the National Field Director in the creation, implementation and execution of the field plan in assigned districts. RFDs are also responsible for daily coaching of Congressional Campaign Field Directors and working with those Field Directors on daily reporting and feedback, ensuring accountability to the DCCC National Field program. 

In addition to the above responsibilities, Regional Field Directors manage budgets and build relationships with our congressional campaigns and the appropriate Democratic State Parties in their region.

Regional Field Directors will be based from a central location in the assigned region. Daily travel is expected and required to maximize the support for our campaigns.

Regional Field Directors must have strong leadership skills and the ability to support a large staff. RFDs must have experience training and coaching of staff on a daily basis, experience with budgets, two cycles of field experience and at least one cycle of managing a field program. Applicants without these minimum requirements will not be considered.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Assists Field Directors in creating, implementing and executing field plans in Congressional Districts
  • Coach Field Directors on the ground on how to be good field managers;
  • Monitor daily reporting from congressional districts and provide feedback and best practices ;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with State Party officials;
  • Create and manage field budgets;
  • Extensive travel in region to work with Field Directors;
  • Train prospective Field Directors, Field Organizers, and Canvass Directors;

Required Skills:

  • Previous political campaign experience;
  • Previous experience training and coaching staff on daily basis;
  • Previous experience managing a budget;
  • Experience with relational databases and Excel;
  • Self-motivation and the ability to anticipate and prevent problems;
  • Possess the initiative to work independently and follow through on all projects;
  • Organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines required;
  • Excellentwritten and verbal communications skills;
  • Commitment to electing Democrats to the United States House of Representatives
  • Other duties as needed
