Worst Persons In The World
As MSNBC's Keith Olbermann pointed out in his "Worst Person in the World" segment, some Republican candidates are making desperate claims to justify their support of the Bush-McCain agenda (skip ahead to 43 seconds in):
"Worser" Person:
Minnesota's 6th DistrictRep. Bachmann: No need to fix Global Warming, Jesus already saved the planet
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R) told the website OneNewsNow:
"[Pelosi] is committed to her global warming fanaticism to the point where she has said that she's just trying to save the planet. We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet -- we didn't need Nancy Pelosi to do that.
"Worst" Person:
Tinsley: My opponent will cut our troops' throats
Republican candidate Ed Tinsley was roundly booed at a local candidate forum after making the outrageous accusation that his opponent, Democrat Harry Teague, will cut the throats of our troops. Watch the video for yourself.

Let the right-wing have all the mic/rope they want!
Thank goodness for Keith Obermann and voices like his in mainstream media!
GOLLY, GOSH, WHILLICKERS, ISN’T IT NICE TO SEE (sorry for
yelling, I sound like a scared Republican) these worried
Repubs constantly using our troops as chess pieces in their bid for votes. As an ex-Marine (yes, there is such a thing) it makes me both queasy & furious. It is not against our troops to want them safely home, given all necessary medical care when they need it (& I mean both FULL physical/mental/rehab), backed by a solid GI Bill when they need it for furthering education, et al. Maybe when they are Boo’d enough & lose their elections, they will rethink & reject their talking points. Maybe they will grow up & learn what representing the people truly means ... maybe not
Alas, it comes as no surprise that Republican sleaze bags will say anything to get elected. Just like the pack of lies in Crazy Corsi’s fictional work about someone with the same name as the leading presidential candidate. Pure, unadulterated malice,; distortion, innuendo, & outright slander; that’s all the GOP attack machine has to offer the nation. Pitiful! Disgraceful! That’s what Rove, W, Cheney,&
McCain have done to our political campaigns. And that’s why they’re doomed to minority status for decades to come.
That is a really low thing to say in a debate, but par for the course. Republican candidates everywhere are running scared, and it’s showing. It’s up to all thinking voters to pay attention to the pap they are being fed versus the truth, and to do this by getting their information from a variety of sources. Democrats, I would urge you to hold your noses and tune in once in a while to Rush and Fox to see what’s being presented as gospel so you have talking points when the topics come up in conversation. It’s going to get uglier and uglier as the next two months progress.
Stay on the high road and thanks for holding the GOP’s feet to the fire by calling attention to Republican hogwash like this, Mr. Olbermann!
This isn’t just “Politics as Usual” it is “REPUBLICAN Politics as Usual”. Sad to say the Republican slander machine was able to conjure up enough votes (along with legal maneuvering in both Florida in ‘00 and Ohio in ‘04) to win the presidency but the Democrats learned from that too. We are not going to let McShame and the Sleeze Machine win this election. If McSame were to steal the election this coming November, I doubt if our country would survive the damage that would result.
Interesting how the right wing is so hot to post the Ten Commandments everywhere, yet they have no problem with their candidates and surrogates BEARING FALSE WITNESS. Lst time I checked, it was one of the ten.
Do the American people have such short memories as to why our soldiers are in Iraq? What is supposed to be our purpose?
And please, Lord, please, make them stick to the point, not wander off
like a person who doesn’t know what year it is.
From a Progressive Democrat:
Why are Democrats always so dim they overlook the obvious arguments? If every Democratic candidate was to simply join in Harry Teague’s “Three billion dollars a week” mantra they would create an incredibly effective, unified voice that would go far to ensure their individual success and the success of the party.
Instead, we’ve got people like Nancy Peolsi, that ever-vacuous waste of molecular space, who might actually be saying something meaningful, but whose annunciations are so disjointed, grating, and obnoxious no comprehendible message reaches the listener.
Congressman Teague, please do your best to teach Speaker Pelosi.
What makes the democrats so great..they are backing a freshman senator who has no experience and who does not vote on the issues that he claims he is going to change..did anybody really check out Obama’s voting record..this may be simple enough - but this guy collects a pay check of over $400,000 plus for not voting on the issues...and again, simple, but that church he as attended for over 20 years is racist! Those are simple issues that pack a lot of punch…
There is one good thing that has come from this...atleast we all know about the secrets behind closed doors on the topic of Black Liberation theology and to think it has all happen right under our noses.. I am not ready for a president quite this liberal…
The thing that makes Obama so GREAT is the fact that he is different."THANK GOD”.Does not everyone notice we AINT doing great with the IMBECILES in the WHITE HOUSE.
This is pretty much aimed at Ann Thompson, or anyone else of like points-of-view: McCain has the very worst voting record in the Senate. (Almost as bad as his place in his graduating class @the Naval Academy.) He is never (or seldom) “there,” to vote even when he’s NOT running (limping) for president. Obams has @least as much experience as Bush had, as Senator Hillery has (not counting living w/Bill for all those years). Did you watch McCain’s face last night in the Q&A;’s? The man is frantic, cannot make a correct sentence in English (remind you of anyone?) & was completely playing to the evening’s venue –– ask the same questions next week & you’ll rec’v another answers, with religion appearing less frequently. I think this country, in the shape it’s in here & it’s reputation Worldwide) must simply say, Okay, let’s take a chance (as we do with EVERY Presidential Candidate!) & vote for the guy least similar to those people currently doing the choreography that is dancing us deep into the nearest Dumpster®.
It’s interesting how far people ‘of good conscience’ will go to support their beliefs. So it’s not surprising that the best argument Ann Thompson (based on her vast research into the Republican talking points, evidently) has against Obama is that he is too liberal. Liberal being a code word - used by ‘people of good conscience’ - for black man.
Ann, you should check your facts. Senators don’t make $400,000 a year--only the president does. Members of Congress make less than $200,000; somewhere around $170,000 these days. Your arguments are undermined by such easily filled gaps in your credibility.
HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DOES A CANDIDATE NEED TO BE PRESIDENT? REAGAN HAD 140 MARINES KILLED Was JUST A B-ACTOR- PRESIDENT BUSH . WHEN HE TOOK OFFICE DID NOT KNOW THE NAMES OF ANY FOREIGN LEADERS THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. CLINTON NO EXPERIENCE IN FOREIGN AFFAIRS, FOR THAT MATTER EITHER DID TRUMAN, KENNEDY AND FDR. OBAMA IS THE BEST CHOICE FOR PRESIDENT.HE HAS A VISION FOR THIS COUNTRY FAR SURPASSES JOHN MCCAINS OUTDATED THOUGHTS RESEMBLING THE BUSH PRESIDENCY. HOW COULDANY INTELLIGENT PERSON VOTE FOR THIS OLD MAN WHO WAS AT ONE TIME A WOMANIZER AND WAS SCREWING AROUND ON HIS FIRST WIFE AND NOW PREACHES FAMILY VALUES. WESLEY CLARK WAS RIGHT - MCCAIN WAS A PRISONER OF WAR FOR 5 YRS. WHAT CLASSIFIES HIM AS A HERO?
First of all. I would like to say “Thanks, Keith. I watch your show daily. It’s refreshing to get honest, up to the minute news about what is happening in this world.”
How sad it is that there are SO MANY WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD, and that they have such influence over the masses. Many people really buy all that garbage, and that is very scary. The Democrats need to get a spine, especially Pelosi, and address the GOP phony self-serving ideology and expose the lies and hypocrisy which has served them so well for so long. It is time for the American people to learn the facts about their leaders and start doing something about it. It amazes me that 50% of this nation still think that it is OK to exploit others, both in this nation and throughout the world, for the sake of “democracy”. And it amazes me how many people are still naively believing that McCain is such a patriot and he will do everything he can to protect this country, and therefore, they will vote for him. WRONG. Listen to him speak, or better yet watch him. He cannot give a straight answer, and he nervously avoids the questions. It is obvious he does not have a socially responsible platform for solving this nation’s problems. I personally do not want another Bush clone running this country. I do not want a president who does not understand the needs of her people, and the pressing environmnetal, social and international problems we now face.
Note to Ann., I’ll take my chances with a freshman senator who has some very good ideas and understands the social problems of this nation, over a senior senator who has no platform, no ideas, no interest in addressing the needs of America. The term “Black Liberation theology” is just another way of playing the race card in regards to basic civil rights. That’s pathetic.
And in regards to Tinsley, this is typical of how Republicans handle their campaigns: use excuses for why they do not have better answers to our problems, and exploit others for their own personal gains, in this case, the men and women in our armed forces.
