For 41 years the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has worked for equality and opportunity for all Americans. Now with Election Day approaching, the Congressional Black Caucus, Democrats, and President Obama are focused on reigniting the American dream. We must build ladders of opportunity for anyone willing to work hard and play by the rules, so everyone can succeed.
The Congressional Black Caucus is known as the "conscience of the Congress" and boasts 41 House Democrats. Several CBC Members hold key leadership positions in the House including: Assistant Leader Jim Clyburn - the most senior African American in Congress - and John Conyers, Elijah Cummings, Bennie Thompson, and Eddie Bernice Johnson are the Ranking Members on the Judiciary, Oversight and Government Reform, Homeland Security, and Science, Space and Technology Committees, respectively.
The Congressional Black Caucus is committed to making progress for all Americans and providing a voice for the voiceless, while working to create jobs, grow the economy, and fight for the rights of every citizen to vote and every vote to be counted. The Congressional Black Caucus is working to elect more African American Democrats to Congress, win the Majority, and re-elect President Obama.
