Where Republicans Say Scozzafava Stands is Completely at Odds with the Albany Politician’s Record

As Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava is making the rounds in Washington, DC, Republican Party bosses are trying to recreate her record with a blatant disregard for the facts. Earlier today, the National Republican Campaign Committee issued a press release falsely touting the Albany politician as being committed to fiscal discipline with a specific focus on earmark reform, but clearly the GOP didn't do their homework. In reality, Scozzafava secured hundreds of thousands in taxpayer funded member items over the course of her career.

The hypocrisy didn't stop there though as the NRCC also tried to revise the Albany politician's record on taxes. They falsely claimed Scozzafava supports lower taxes, even though she voted to raise or increase taxes 190 times over the course of her career. The hypocrisy is par for the course for Washington and Albany Republicans but clearly doesn't represent the kind of leadership Upstaters are looking for when it comes to their member of Congress.

"Republicans should've done their homework because their efforts to recast the Albany politician's record failed miserably," said Shripal Shah, Northeast Regional Press Secretary.  "The fact is that while in Albany, Dede Scozzafava was as far from fiscally responsible as one could be; her efforts to secure thousands in earmarks is undeniable, and voters aren't going to take Republicans' efforts to mislead them seriously."

"In typical Albany fashion, Scozzafava has no credibility when it comes to fiscal responsibility, taxes, and earmarks.  She should tell the NRCC to stop trying to disingenuously repackage her record."
