Ric Keller Pulls the Ultimate Scam on Seniors by Refusing to Lower Prescription Drug Costs
As Representative Ric Keller (FL-08) meets with seniors
today to discuss
how to spot a scam, he continues to pull one of the biggest scams on seniors by
refusing to help lower the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs. Keller has
opposed allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices, which would give
much needed relief to the 88,000 seniors in his district who still have to
choose between buying necessities like drugs, gas or
groceries.
“Instead of talking about other scams, Ric Keller should
tell the seniors of his district exactly why he continues to help Big Drug
companies scam them into paying too much for their prescription drugs,” said
Kyra Jennings, Southern Regional Press Secretary at the DCCC. “
Background:
- Representative
Keller voted against requiring the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department to
negotiate with drug companies for lower prices. The bill included discounts,
rebates, and other price concessions that may be charged for drugs covered under
the Medicare Part D prescription drug program. [HR 4, Vote #23, 1/12/07]
- Keller has received
$41,000 from Big Drug companies since his first election cycle in 2000. [Center
