Representative Rogers Opposes Own Legislation Huh?

Cementing his position in the Hypocrisy Hall of Fame, today Representative Mike Rogers (AL-03) actually voted against his own legislation.

It's true.  When the House of Representatives considered the omnibus lands legislation today, including a measure that Representative Rogers introduced, he opposed the package.  [Roll Call Vote, 3/25/2009]

"Today, Representative Rogers brought hypocrisy to a whole new level when he voted against protecting the Little River Canyon, a measure he himself sponsored," said Jessica Santillo, Southern Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  "Representative Rogers is so determined to say ‘no' he actually voted against his own bill."

Background

The following Representative Rogers-sponsored bill was incorporated into H.R. 146, the Omnibus Public Land Management Act:

  • HR 5486, To expand the boundaries of the Little River Canyon National Preserve in the State of Alabama.
