John Katko: Ann Marie Buerkle ‘Planted the Seed’ for Me to Run

Just days after the right wing establishment chose John Katko in a closed process to be their candidate to pick up where Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle left off, Katko went running to her for help mustering the Tea Party base. John Katko went on Congresswoman Buerkle’s radio show Saturday and confirmed his allegiance to her and the Tea Party’s radical ideology – stating that Congresswoman Buerkle was the one who “planted the seed” to get him to run for Congress.

Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle: “…talk to the listeners about why you are running for Congress.”

John Katko: “…after having a conversation with a few people, including yourself who planted the seed, I started thinking about it…”

Listen to the interview.

“After the right wing establishment handpicked him as their candidate to continue Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle’s radical ideological agenda, the first thing John Katko did was run to Congresswoman Buerkle’s radio show to get his marching orders and muster the Tea Party base,” said Marc Brumer of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “John Katko went on the air and confirmed Saturday that Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle herself recruited Katko to run for Congress and pick up where she left off.  One thing’s clear; the Tea Party is still pushing its radical ideology on Central New York, just with a different candidate.”
