Democrats to Chris Gibson: Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

While Republican Chris Gibson (NY-20) can’t explain his own hypocrisy, Democrats are repeating their call for Gibson to denounce and refuse the support of British Petroleum apologist Tom Price.

Earlier this week Gibson was quick to denounce one big oil supporter, Joe Barton.  But when it came to raising money for his campaign last night, Gibson had no problem standing with another BP ally, Tom Price, who days ago outrageously defended the oil giant from efforts to hold them accountable for the oil spill they’ve caused.   When Gibson’s campaign was asked about the hypocrisy, they couldn’t offer an explanation.

"Actions speak louder than words and Chris Gibson has shown that while he’ll say anything to try and score political points, he’ll ultimately only do what’s best for his campaign coffers," said Shripal Shah, Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Chris Gibson’s decision to disassociate himself with one British Petroleum apologist while raising money with another reinforces that point. Chris Gibson should be denouncing defenders of big oil, not embracing them, and it’s time for him to do what’s right and rejecting Tom Price’s support."
