DCCC Launches Third Phase of Advertising & Grassroots Offensive, “Health Care ER”

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), chaired by Congressman Chris Van Hollen, announced today it's unveiling Health Care Fact Check Cards that will be sent to millions of grassroots supporters across the country, constituting the third phase of its month-long major advertising and grassroots offensive against more than two-dozen targeted Republicans who are trying to block health insurance reform.

Called "Health Care ER," Democrats' health care emergency response network is a multi-pronged assault of paid advertising, automated and live volunteer phone calls, millions of grassroots e-mails, letters to the editor, fact checks, and tele-town halls in targeted Republican districts.

"Considering the lengths that Republicans are going to try and poison the debate on health insurance reform with lies and scare tactics, we are launching our Health Care Fact Check Cards, debunking the myths and empowering our supporters to fight back with the truth," said Jon Vogel, Executive Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Our Health Care Fact Check Cards are just the latest way we are holding Republicans and their fringe groups accountable for trying to silence debate and protect a broken health insurance status quo."

When people do a Google search for a wide variety of keywords, ads will show up on the right side of the screen with a link to the DCCC's fact check site.

The DCCC has already launched automated phone calls in the following districts: Brian Bilbray (CA-50), Ken Calvert (CA-44), David Dreier (CA-26), Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25), Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-09), Mike McCaul (TX-10), Frank Wolf (VA-10), Bill Young (FL-10), Judy Biggert (IL-13), Mary Bono Mack (CA-45), and Pete Sessions (TX-32).

The DCCC has also run drive time radio ads in the following districts: Michele Bachmann (MN-06), Joseph Cao (LA-02), Charlie Dent (PA-15), Dan Lungren (CA-03), Thad McCotter (MI-11), Erik Paulsen (MN-03), Dave Reichert (WA-08), and Pat Tiberi (OH-12).

The DCCC also launched HealthCareFactCheck.com, a new website dedicated to exposing the truth-twisting attacks by Republicans and their fringe right-wing groups on health insurance reform.

The DCCC's Health Care ER month of action activities are coordinated through the DCCC's grassroots Health Care ER Action Center (www.dccc.org/HealthCareER).
