DCCC Announces Major Advertising & Grassroots Offensive, “Health Care ER”

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), chaired by Congressman Chris Van Hollen, announced the DCCC is launching a month-long major advertising and grassroots offensive against more than two-dozen targeted Republicans on health insurance reform.

Called "Health Care ER," Democrats Health Care Emergency Response Network will hold targeted Republicans accountable for protecting health insurance companies' profits from doubled insurance premiums and denied health care coverage, at the expense of affordable health care.  By contrast, President Obama and Democrats are working for health insurance reform that lowers costs and protects patients' choice of doctors and plans.

"Time and again, Republicans protect a broken system of skyrocketing costs, insurance companies making health care decisions, and record setting insurance company profits instead of working with President Obama to bring real health insurance reform," said Chairman Van Hollen.  "President Obama and Democrats are working for health insurance reform that lowers costs and protects patients' choice of doctors and plans, while Republican are fighting for insurance companies.  This August we are going district-by-district to hold Republicans accountable for trying to obstruct health insurance reform through their scare tactics and just-say-no protection of big insurance companies."

The DCCC's Health Care ER month of action includes activities coordinated through the DCCC's grassroots Health Care ER Action Center (www.dccc.org/HealthCareER).

Activities include:

Þ     Radio ads in eight (8) Republican Members districts;

"But year after year, Congressman Charlie Dent opposed reforms to make health care more affordable.

"Congressman Dent's gotten nearly 75 thousand dollars from the insurance industry while we've gotten stuck with runaway healthcare costs.  And what do the insurance companies get?  Record profits.

"Call Congressman Dent - tell him not to side with insurance companies... and start supporting real health care reform...

"To lower costs by forcing insurance companies to compete.
