About Jim Esch

Jim Esch is a life-long resident of Omaha who is deeply committed to serving his community.

As a former board member of the Sienna Francis House homeless shelter, Heart Ministry outreach program, Black Student Catholic Scholarship Fund, Jim embraces a leadership style that is attentive, compassionate and thorough.

Jim received a JD in 2000 from Creighton University’s School of Law and is currently a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association. He completed undergraduate work at Creighton University, where he served as President of the student body.

Upon graduation from law school, Jim’s experience at the Steier Group, a national consulting and fund-raising firm for non-profit organizations, involved helping numerous schools, churches and other not-for-profit groups around the country. Jim helped raise over $5 million for the Steier Group’s not for profit clients.

In 2003, Jim was selected to direct the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership (GO!), and raised $15 million towards Omaha Chamber of Commerce efforts to attract more business, jobs and investment to the Omaha community. Jim is currently the managing partner of a real estate investment partnership that has farming and ranching interests in Colorado and Nebraska, where his family first homesteaded in the late 1800’s.

The oldest of six children, and a 1994 Creighton Preparatory School alumnus, Jim learned the meaning of sacrifice and service through his upbringing and education. Jim’s father is a Vietnam veteran who lost his right leg during the war, and his great-grandfather was an Omaha Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty.

Family values and deep Nebraska roots serve as Jim’s background, but his commitment to strong leadership, compassion for others and innovative thinking are the qualities that advance him among leaders. His work in fund raising demonstrates conscientiousness for budgets, a strength which he will apply to ensure responsible government spending.

A vote for Jim Esch reflects a vote for change. Jim’s fresh, committed and responsible leadership will serve our community well.
