Odds & Ends

A few tidbits:

Our pal at Upper Left has some good quotes from the Reagans and Col. Hackworth.

The Progress Report dissects DeLay’s energy grandstand.

U.S. Comptroller General David Walker has found at least $1 billion in wasted funds in Iraq, “more than the government spends on research into Alzheimer’s disease and asthma combined, for example.”

And the DNC is doing a major outreach project with an ad contest, with the winner being aired during the Convention.  If your commitment doesn’t run quite that deep, play a game instead.

We’re in a friendly competition with the DNC (as are the RNC and NRCC), so I must insist that if you’ve got your wallet open you give us a hand, but the ad contest sounds pretty cool and the winner will probably be aired nationwide during the Convention coverage - and since we don’t have a contest of our own, go ahead and submit an entry to put your own little slant on those proceedings.

Update: The right wing has officially forfeited its right to use the word “ethics” in the public sphere.
